Steps School Of Theatre Dance Established 1975.
The School is situated within Birstall Methodist Church at the heart of Birstall village centre.
A select number of pupils compete in 3 festivals throughout the year. They are encouraged to take part in these competitions to build their confidence and to give them more opportunities to experience performing to an audience. Dancers are given the chance to perform solos, duets, trios and groups alongside other dance schools. Festivals often involve pupils who show a natural talent in dance and who may be thinking about taking it further and pursuing a career in this industry
are held daily for children as young as 2 1/2 years to adults. Subjects include, ballet, tap, modern jazz, theatre craft, gymnastics and freestyle. Examinations are taken throughout the year in all these subjects under the IDTA syllabus. The school holds a 100% pass rate with many pupils achieving distinction whilst others go on to be nominated for IDTA theatre awards. Teacher training lessons are also available.
Every 2 years, all pupils at Steps take part in the school show. This is held at Cedars Academy Birstall Leicester. This is a fantastic experience for all involved. Over the 2 nights the show consists of a variety of dance styles that the pupils train in. It gives all pupils the chance to show friends and family their love for dance and to experience performing on a professional stage to an audience. Pupils at Steps also take part in Various other events including local carnivals & charity events.
